HSA/Flex

Did You Know Massage Therapy Can Be A Qualified Medical Expense?

Yes, you heard right. Many of our clients that see us for treatment at Apex Retreat are able to use their HSA and FLEX spending accounts to cover Therapeutic Massage sessions.

Here are some examples of conditions (physical & emotional) that qualify include:

  • Stress
  • Back Pain
  • Neck
  • Pain/Headaches
  • Arthritis
  • Diabetes
  • Hypertension
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Anxiety/Depression/PTSD
  • Pain Management

If you suffer from one of the above conditions (and who isn’t stressed?), all you need to do to set up massage as a qualifying expense is pay a visit to your medical practitioner. Let him or her know that you have an HSA and you’d like to use some of your funds toward massage for treatment or prevention of your condition.

  1. Medical necessity: why you need massage therapy (example: to relieve back pain)
  2. Frequency: number of sessions per month (example: minimum of two sessions per month)
  3. Duration: length of treatment (example: 12 months)

Bring your HSA or FLEX card (if you have one) to pay for your next visit. If you don’t have a Flex card, simply pay for our massages and turn in your receipts for reimbursement.
All of our therapist have their NPI number and can provide you with a receipt by request

Questions? Talk to your therapist and they will be able to assist you from there!
